Did you know that the growth of healthcare costs for children is actually outpacing adults? If you didn’t, you’re not alone. Healthcare has a long history of focusing the vast majority of its collective attention toward solving problems for the aging population, while our children are often an afterthought.
With Augment Therapy, that ends now.
My name is Lindsay Watson, and I’m a physical therapist, a mother, and the Founder and CEO of Augment Therapy. For over a decade, I have dedicated my life to treating children with various physical and neurological impairments through physical therapy. Being a physical therapist has infiltrated, affected, and improved all aspects of my life. I am a better mother because I’m a physical therapist, and a better physical therapist because I’m a mother.
The problems facing pediatric physical therapy are extensive and ones that I’ve felt first-hand for years. The PT industry desperately needs to adjust to meet the demands of a changing and exponentially increasing patient population that requires more convenience, improved access, and versatility. Physical therapists, including myself, are struggling to keep up with the documentation and objective data collection demands of an ever-evolving healthcare market. And worst of all, we operate under the ever-present assumption that the majority of the children we treat never do any physical therapy exercises outside of the time they are physically with us. Our expertise is rarely, if ever, carried over to the home or the classroom.
Augment Therapy will change all of that.
Augment Therapy is a software program using augmented reality, meaning that digital content is layered over real world images. This unique format engages kids to exercise in targeted and therapeutic ways. We are building a platform that encourages therapeutic exercise to take place outside of PT appointments and, best of all, we are making it fun. Our platform automates data collection and is designed to augment the power of the clinician, not displace them. Through our portal, we enable therapeutic exercise to be monitored by the therapist from anywhere and at any time, making therapy convenient for both children and their therapists.
As a physical therapist myself, the child and therapist remain at the heart of every decision in our software production. We want to continue to build a software that is driven by clinicians and their expertise, unlike other technology companies where the clinician is underrepresented and uninvolved. We want you to be a part of this dream of improving access to care and therapeutic exercise for all.
